Congressional candidate calls on Gov. DeSantis to issue stay-at-home order
Fort Myers, FL - Due to the increasing concerns surrounding the Novel Coronavirus in the state of Florida, I am calling on Governor DeSantis to issue a statewide “Stay-at-Home” order immediately. If the state does not act sooner, she calls on the Lee County Commissioners to issue the order this coming Monday and for the Collier County Commissioners to reconsider their decision to defer. According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, as of 3/27/2020, Florida currently has 2,900 cases of Coronavirus, the fifth-highest in the United States. We need to take immediate action to contain the increasing rate of cases in the state.Every day of inaction leads to more cases, a higher risk of collapse of our already stretched health care system, and an increased likelihood of deaths. Without decisive action from Governor DeSantis, Florida will have a wave of increases in COVID-19 cases.Take action NOW. Put an order in place for all Florida citizens to stay at home to stem the rise in cases so that our medical community is not overwhelmed so Florida does not become the next Italy.
